How Do I Find Red Rock Dells?

Minnesota may not be exotic or tropical, unless you grew up in the tropics, then it would be exotic. We do have natural features that give the tropics a run for the money. I think it would be a mistake not to include places to visit that are an exception to the flat prairie that dominates southwest and south central Minnesota.

Starting from the intersections of U.S. Route 14 and U.S. Route 71 in southwest Minnesota, go 8.2 miles south on U.S. Route 71 to 250th St. (250th St is a very short road - about a mile long.) Go east on 250th St, if you go west you will be on Cottonwood County 10. Notice that you are now in serious redneck country, the sign has been hit with bird shot.

A little over a half of a mile down the road, you will notice this sign to the right. Look at the trees behind it, THIS IS THE PARK!

Don't do what I did and notice the water to the left and only look left, driving right past it.

Wide shot of the park:

Park sign: (Notice it says "Red Rock Falls" - even though the locals call it "Red Rock Dells" - confusing?)

The pavilion from behind the falls:

The word "dells" has this definition: "a small, usually wooded valley" Dictionary.com.
